Following graduation from The University of Dundee and gaining her Diploma in Legal Practice at Edinburgh University, Heather initially joined Iain Smith & Partners as a Trainee Solicitor - and she has remained here ever since. Working in tandem with Greig McDonell in our Court Department, she appears regularly in both criminal and civil cases in the local Sheriff and JP Courts. She is a member of both the Family Law Association and the Scottish Executive’s “Safe Contact for Children Working Group” and her work encompasses a broad range of Family Law issues, including financial provision on separation and divorce, cohabitation and child issues. Heather also works closely with the Violence against Women Partnership in the Scottish Borders, and runs a drop-in clinic for women focusing on advice, information and guidance on the options and choices available in relation to children, separation, family issues and violence from partners or ex-partners.
